Barrister Mir Helal’s late lamented mother Dalia Nazneen Nasir also hails from a very well known, respectable and prominent “Dovash” family of Chittagong. She graduated and completed her Masters from Chittagong University in Sociology and later pursued Law degree. His maternal grand father was a great philanthropist, a very renowned businessman and was well known in the region as Mr Abu Shahid Dovash. Late Mr Abu Shahid Dovash built the two main heritage mosques of Chittagong during the 1950s, hiring and bringing in specialist builders from Lucknow, India. Those two mosques are still a point of interest and considered as two major cultural and religious heritages of Chittagong located in Chandanpura and Firinghee Bazaar.
Barrister Mir Helal is married to Mrs Naushin Helal, who is the daughter of a renowned businessman and former Chairman of Chandgaon, Chittagong, Late Mr. Nuruzzaman Chowdhury and Mrs. Showkat Ara Chowdhury. Mrs Helal’s grand father was a very famous businessman and great Philanthropist of Chittagong Late Mr. Solaiman Chowdhury of Chandgaon, Chittagong. Late Mr. Solaiman Chowdhury has done many charitable establishments in Chittagong and also developed the infrastructure of his area, Chandgaon, Chittagong. He had founded Schools, mosques and religious institutions in many places of Chittagong. He hails from the Chowdhury Family of Chandgaon. Mrs. Naushin Helal and Barrister Mir Helal is blessed with three sons.
Carrying forward the legacy of the family, Barrister Mir Helal’s moto is to serve the country and the people and to bring about a change in the present socio-political scenario of Bangladesh. Being tremendously moved by the ideology of Shahid President Ziaur Rahman (A valiant Freedom Fighter, A Sector Commander, The First President of Bangladesh, the most successful State Head of Bangladesh, Founder of SAARC and Founder of multi-party democracy in Bangladesh) and inspired and motivated by his son Mr Tarique Rahman (Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, BNP) Barrister Mir Helal gradually got involved with BNP in a greater extent and started to actively participate and encourage others to participate in the movements led by BNP to establish rule of law and to establish a democratic socio-political environment in Bangladesh. He, in line with his leader Mr. Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party – BNP, is a firm believer of politics for development, empowerment of the grassroots and establishment of a strong and stable economy. Patriotism is of utmost importance.
He is a Member of the Central Convening Committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Lawyers Forum. Barrister Mir Helal is involved in many social activities and is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of his family’s charitable trust “Dalia-Nusrat Memorial Trust”. Through these Trust various charitable works are carried out in Hathazari and as well as others parts of Chittagong. Dalia-Nusrat Memorial Trust built many religious establishments and independently runs a Islamic education centre known as the Amatunnoor Taalimul Quran Nurani Madrasha and Hefjokhana. Barrister Mir Helal is the President of the Management Committee of Mir Nowabul Hoque Memorial High School, Mirekhil, Hathazari, Chittagong and contributing towards providing education to the people of his area.
Barrister Mir Helal also leads a renowned law firm, “The Lawyers’ Council”, and has represented many international, multinational and local clients in numerous commercial, civil, criminal and admiralty disputes. Barrister Mir Helal has been also working with a number of groups of young professionals, students and business people who share the common political and ideological beliefs. Motivating enthusiastic, efficient and young individuals has been his one of his strongholds. He is the member of the Advisory Board of Bangladesh Nationalist British Law Students Alliance and Bangladesh Nationalist Law Students Forum.
